Canadian Coast Guard to be a smash at 2019 festival with giant icebreaking ship
Note: Duty calls for the CCGS Griffon. The icebreaker will not be attending our 2019 festival but she will be sending another hero in her place. Read all about CCGS Constable Carrier here.
We have a rather LARGE announcement. We’re excited to share that the Canadian Coast Guard will be bringing one of their icebreaking vessels to our festival this summer. The CCGS Griffon can carry over 740 tons and is 234 feet long, making her the largest vessel in our fleet.
She’s kind of a big deal
A chat with the Captain of the Bluenose II
When Bluenose II confirmed their attendance at our 2019 festival, we were so excited we almost fell overboard. The fishing and racing schooner from Nova Scotia is no ordinary vessel. To explain why, we need to go back to the Atlantic seaboard in the early 1900’s, when her story began.
Attention crew! The tall ships are BACK!
Ahoy there, friends! A dock party is taking place on Toronto’s waterfront Canada Day weekend 2019, and you’re invited! Aye, that’s right, 2019 is a tall ships year. From June 29-July 1st, 2019, the Redpath Waterfront Festival, presented by Billy Bishop Airport, will welcome 10 majestic tall ships to Toronto’s waterfront.
