History, Folklore & Fresh Air at the Waterfront
A highly interactive immersion theatre experience where historical fiction meets performance and the tactile exploration of the traditions and trades of the time.
Turn the corner into Harbour Square Quay and be transported back into an old port settlement of period tradesmen: tinsmiths, blacksmiths, sail makers, coopers, leather workers, bosuns, weavers, musicians, drummers and many others. It’s 200 years ago and you are the ‘apprentice’ in this engaging wharf-side village of characters that are busily recruiting in anticipation of news from the south. The Town Crier spies a tall ship and motley crew out on the lake and heading towards the Wharf at York. As the seasoned bearer of news from afar, the Crier experiences an instinctual sense of excitement and foreboding. No one in this quiet close-knit community is truly ready for the arrival of this ship and the impact it will have on their personal lives and fortunes.
You are the ‘apprentice’ in this engaging 1812 wharf-side village of characters. Sail away for part of the day aboard Toronto Brigantine Tall Ships Playfair or Pathfinder.
